You can use the LanguageTool (LT) in LibreOffice. The most recent LT extension in LibreOffice is called WriteTool.

Step by step:

  1. Install java pre-requisites 
    sudo apt install libreoffice-java-common
  2. Download Writing Tool extension by Languagetool.

  1. Execute the WritingTool-#.#.oxt file. Extensions LibreOffice app will appear. Install the extension.

  2. Open a LibreOffice app (Writer, Impress, etc.) and press F7 for grammar, style, and spelling check.
